GALLOPING GETAWAYS! - Kid's Holidays!
Due to the increasing burden of legislation from both the British Government and from Europe, and the spiralling costs of insurance, we greatly regret we are no longer able to accommodate unaccompanied children at Brenfield Farm. We have been running children's holidays at Brenfield for 2 generations of kids, with the greatest of safety and care, the children being absorbed into the family atmosphere of a busy farm and riding centre, and have built up a devoted following of regulars - Alas bureaucracy has once again destroyed something of fun and of value .
We still want kids to enjoy the farm and riding - so bring your parents! They can do lots of things around this part of Argyll during the day while you ride, and in the evenings you stay with them in a comfortable local hotel. You might even persuade them to ride with you one or more days during the week.
Brenfield Farm is situated on the shores of Loch Fyne and has access to huge areas of woodland and moorland, making excellent riding country for both the beginner and the experienced rider. We have an outdoor arena, a cross-country course, and many miles of private tracks for hacking.
The children's activities are very varied. During their stay, they will have an opportunity to many exciting things such as picnic rides, rides on the beach and even into the sea for a paddle. Lots of games, competitions, a treasure hunt on horseback and a barbecue are all part of the holiday. We limit the number of children in any one week and try to ensure that children of a similar age-group are riding here at the same time, so that pony club activities and games can be organised.
We always try to make sure that riding skills are improved and the riders performance continuously assessed, instruction being given by our qualified and competent staff. Formal lessons in dressage and show jumping, as well as cross country, and stable management are available for anyone who would like them during their holiday.
You might like to 'own' your pony for the week, and will be shown how to look after it, catching, feeding, grooming, tacking up, and riding it, and doing everything that you would have to do if the pony was actually yours!
ACCOMMODATION: Children must now stay with their parents in one of our local hotels or in self catering cottages in the Ardrishaig area.
Everyone always has a wonderful time living as part of the family, and enjoying the daily activities of the farm, with all its dogs, cats, geese, horses, sheep, and highland cattle etc. When not riding, mountain bikes are available to our older guests, (with parental permission) and can be used over the many miles of Brenfield's private tracks, which are completely traffic free and very safe.
PARENTS! If you yourself would like to come to Argyll with its beautiful scenery, without the worry of what your children are going to do while you are sightseeing, fishing, sailing, or just lazing, then we would be happy to arrange self-catering accommodation near Brenfield. If you are not a rider, there are many other activities both at Brenfield and in the surrounding area.
