Brenfield is well situated for varied and interesting short rides in and around the hills and forests above the village of Ardrishaig on the western shores of Loch Fyne.
Our Beach Gallop is almost unique in the United Kingdom, in that we don't just gallop down the beach, but carry on into the sea, and swim on horseback to the shore, and a well deserved drink at the local pub.
We cater for all ages and riding abilities and try to ensure that riders of similar standards go out together to get the best possible ride.

Short Rides.  For those that want a gentle ride to enjoy the magnificent scenery of  Loch Fyne and the surrounding hills, we offer a 1½ hour programme,  4 to 5 miles of easy farm tracks and forestry roads.  Get the 'feel' of riding, enjoy the view, and let the horse do the work! Ideal for beginners, adults and children alike.
Want a bit more excitement and a faster ride?  The 1½  to 2 hour ride for the more experienced rider covers more ground and a faster pace.  Off-road riding, cross country, and perhaps a small jump can all be arranged.

The Brenfield pub ride / beach gallop is well known and very popular. This ride is for the experienced rider happy and in control at all paces.  This is a full day ride starting at around 10:00 am and ending at around 4:30 to 5:00 pm
The route takes you over the hills above Brenfield and Ardrishaig, with some fast varied riding, to the beach at Lochgilphead.  A fast canter / gallop over the sands takes you to the water's edge, then into the sea at a canter. Slowing down as the water deepens, the horses finally launch out into a swim, heading for the Ardrishaig shore. It is an amazing and wonderful  experience to swim on horseback!  Once landed, we go to the local pub for lunch leaving the horses suitably watered and fed, in the carpark.   After lunch we head back to the hills and Brenfield.

The beach gallop availability depends on the state of the tide that day, The depth of water also governs whether the horses swim or just wade.  If you don't like water you can still come on the pub ride because there is an 'escape' route along the banks of the Crinan Canal

The Cairnbaan Pub Ride.  A brand new route now open  - a days ride, with lunch at the Cairnbaan Inn.
An exciting and lengthy route over the hills above Brenfield, through forests above Cairnbaan and down to the Crinan Canal.  After lunch we canter down the canal bank to Lochgilphead and up into the hills back to Brenfield.

Evening Rides.  Enjoy a summers evening ride to the pub for a quick drink and ride home again. Various routes and lengths of ride available.

Picnic Rides.  All the family can take part in this.  A gentle ride suitable for beginners (both adult and children) to a pleasant picnic spot for lunch then back again.  We have horses that will look after even the most nervous of parents so there's no excuse for not joining in with the rest of the family! (Dad, take note!!)

Join a Trail: There is sometimes an opportunity to join our Argyll Castles Trail ( Wild Boar) for a day to get a 'taste of trail'  This is of limited availability depending on how busy each trail is.  Please contact us for more information about this.

Lessons:  Group and private lessons are available in the all weather arena, Stable Management and Horse Care instruction are also available by the hour or day.

For the very young:  For children up to about 8 years old, parents can take one of our sensible and reliable ponies and lead their child out and around Brenfield Farm, using the private traffic free tracks in total safety. This is a perfect introduction to horses and riding for a young child, - The only problem arising when they have to get off at the end of the ride!
